Nintendo To Split Ad Revenue With Streaming Gamers

An anonymous reader writes "Over the past several years, as computers and networks have improved to handle heavier loads, it's become popular for people to stream video game footage over sites like YouTube and Twitch. Last year, Nintendo aggressively went after the players doing this for their games, hijacking the ad revenue generated through YouTube. It angered the gaming community, and was actively hostile to the people who were Nintendo's biggest fans. Now, Nintendo has partly walked back their position: they've agreed to share some of the advertising profits with the streamer. It's still hostile to the people actively putting Nintendo game playthroughs out there for others to watch, but it's a step in the right direction."

It is a step in the right direction, but we still need more from Nintendo. They require to collaborate more with the Indi games developer and the consumer.  On this news, let the users to create the video they want on YouTube.

I still think for example of all the games I have on Steam that I bought from the Humble Bundle that I wish someday to have it in my console without an extra charge.

Google Maps Maker - It needs more love from Google - 2014-05 Review

Google Maps Maker needs more love.

http://www.google.com/mapmaker

It's GUI is terrible and everyday is getting harder to put content on Google Maps.

1) I get a lot of errors when trying to update an existing item. It told me to report the error, but there are some many that I have no idea where to start. Plus, it tells me to report the error URL but all looks like "http://www.google.es/mapmaker"

2) Google moved the Map (of my city) and made all building areas I created based on the satellite map to look shifted.

3) On Google Maps, no matter how much you zoom, sometimes the things you added appears, and some other don't.

4) The Link between "Google Maps Maker" and "Google Plus locations" is not complete finished. I find some site at "Google Maps Maker" that I can not find at Google Plus. Also, "Google Maps Maker" items do not have a direct link to its "Google Plus" location page. (or I was not able to find it).

I really hope that Google can create some kind of link from Google Maps to edit the items and takes transparently to Google Maps Editor.

Samsung Printer Software Installer - 2014

It seems that Samsung advanced one step by automatizing the printer software installation in a single installer. (Called "Samsung Printer Software Installer")

Before this I was installing all components individually without known which is the latest version.

Now it is a lot better:
Let's hope that Samung maintains this installer for all future releases of this Printer Software. Some of the issues that happens with this kind of installer inside corporation is that "Standard Installer" losses focus and future software from the same brands stops using it.

Good luck with it Samsung, let's see if next year it remains with the same installer for all printer software.

A real life example on how bad is the DRM software on a Tablet

A good example on how bad can the DRM software be is the Lenovo's 2011 Thinkpad Tablet 1 (Android) example.

This Thinkpad Tablet came with a locked bootloader to protect the DRM license agreements with the OEM software included on it. It ended up turning that a software problem can brick the tablet, since you can not access the lower level firmware to fix the tablet software corruption because of the locked bootloader, Lenovo will have to change the perfectly working mainboard if it was under warranty.

I tried to escalate this issue for Lenovo to unlock this bootloader, but I my only little victory was for Lenovo to recognize the problem and provide a "Free Mainboard Replacement" warranty until August 31 of 2014.

Lenovo did not comply to unlock the bootloader and does not want to provide a full stock ROM because it will need to unlock the bootloader for the user to install it.

This was my real case scenario of why you need to stay away of DRM software on a tablet.
