Hardware: The THINKPAD STACK !!!!!!

YES, I got my hands on the Thinkpad Stack !!!!

Information:

I will like to review each of the modules I got.

1) Bluetooth Speakers -  ThinkPad Stack Bluetooth Speaker

This is no-brainer, it has its own internal battery, so it can work disconnected to the battery module.
You connect your device as a Bluetooth speaker and it works.

There is almost no setup, just hold the power button until it flash to get it into pair mode. Then it is works like a normal Bluetooth speaker to pair it to the PC, phone or tablet.

2) The 1TB HDD drive - ThinkPad Stack 1TB USB3.0 Hard Drive.

Also, this module is no problem. It is a HDD device that comes with his USB 3.0 cable that you can connect to your laptop. When you press the button it will light up to show the charge of it.

It can work together with the "Battery Module" and the "Wifi  Module".

Maybe the only thing that you need to know is that you require the Thinkpad Stack software to surf inside the files of you HDD driver in wireless mode.

3) The Battery - ThinkPad Stack 10000mAh Power Bank.

It is very easy to use, it is a battery that connects to USB port devices for charging, but the idea is it also gives power to the Access Point, Wifi Router and HHD drive.

You can use it charge your phone or tablet and if you press the power button it will light up to let you know the charge level.

4) The Access Point - ThinkPad Stack Wireless Router

This module looks like a good tool for the "road warrior" or for some user with some specific needs.  For example, if you go to an hotel and want to extend the Wifi to other device, or want to connect the Ethernet port and create a wifi network on your room, it works fine.

The only way to set it up is with the include application available for Window, Android or iOS. You can not set up this device with a web interface like most wifi router, so this is good and bad at the same time.

The software that comes with the device (the installer is on the HDD and web site)  has some interesting points. Setup is very easy with the application and here are some screenshots so you can see how it works.

It is the basic thing you need to configure the router.

It will allow you to surf the files of you HDD if you are connecting via Wifi.

It will also give you information about the Batter.

And you can adjust the volume of the Bluetooth Speaker.

What I will like to see in future versions?

Maybe for a next version or firmware improvement:

1: Wifi Router: You can not access the router in Bridge mode from the main wifi network. It may be a security feature, but when you are bridging your home wifi (a trusted network) it may be interesting if you can disable this security.

2: Wifi Router with 1TB HDD: It can be interesting if the 1TB HDD can have all the functionalities of a wireless/wired HDD disk. In this case I can not access the files of it without the Thinkpad Stack software (with the admin password) .  I will like to be able to connect to it as a Windows network drive with Samba and other common protocols.

It may be hard since you will need all the function to register user on your HDD so not everybody will have access to your files via wifi.
